Tony Soulié, an internationally renowned artist, was born in Paris in 1955 and lives and works there. A keen traveller and nomadic artist, he works across painting, photography, printmaking, installation and land art. In his more recent work, he appears less concerned with emphasising the aesthetic power of gesture. He has moved away from a period in which bodily spontaneity was more prominent than the mind. He has also deliberately distanced himself from historical painting references and labels, without rejecting useful associations or valuable knowledge.
